The next step in preparing for a successful year.

After the whole school collaboration it’s time for our Year 4 team, together with representation from the specialist team, student support and second language educators, to spend some time sharing ideas.

We have an agenda with clear goals :
· Collaborate to improve our students’ social, emotional and academic learning.
· Create an Essential Agreement.

We link our team meeting to the meetings that have preceded this one and then share how we perceive ourselves, first as people and then as educators, by choosing a word from a random collection and saying why we chose it. Mark says he is like a map, always looking for different ways of getting to destinations and Dani says she is like glasses, looking carefully at things before making a decision.

We watch a clip to provoke our thinking about what social , emotional and academic learning is.

We are mindful of the Meeting Wise protocols and really listen to what each participant is saying.

Using the Compass Points Thinking Routine , we share what we are excited about, our needs, concerns, and suggestions to ensure that our team will be able to focus on the students’ social, emotional and academic learning.

As we share our suggestions, I summarise the big ideas so that we can share a draft Essential Agreement before we leave. This will be published for us to refer back to amend as the year progresses.

As a thank you to our team, I show a clip of minions working in a team.
A Plus, Delta from each participant shows that the meeting achieved its purpose and we are ready to focus on what we started out thinking about – every child in our class.
