‘I’m switching off now!’ the text says. And I wait … I know something I have said will cause one more beep … Or maybe there’ll be a link to blog post in the morning.
We live in this world that is constantly changing. But some things are constantly the same. For me these things are friendship, family, the need to feel important and my desire to have my thinking extended … Challenged.
I recently read this blog post, entitled 5 People. It made me think. It got me to consider, “Who are your 5 people in education that make you want to be better?”
At this stage, I am lucky! I have at least four people on my list who make me want more! They question me, they have opinions, can debate a point that others may feel is insignificant, to us it is pivotal, they are not scared to share … They listen.
When do we get to the point that we are honoured enough to be on someone else’s list of 5?
When do we get to get one more text, one more thought after they have “switched off?”
Maybe the question isn’t ‘when’ but ‘why’.
I love the idea of flipping the question from ‘who’s on your list of 5?’ to ‘what might put me on someone else’s list of 5?’
I’m switching off now. Watch out for the blog post 🙂

Great question … And many more , Ed. Is the list constant ? Are there common features on people’s lists, are the people on lists the ones we would expect to find ? …
